    We deal with two main areas -

  1. The registration of electors, including -

    • Undertaking an annual canvass of all properties in the District, during the autumn;
    • Publishing the full, and the edited, versions of the electoral register on 1 December each year;
    • Making changes to the electoral register monthly, following applications by individuals to be added to or deleted from the register.
  2. The administration of the following elections:

    • European Parliament, South East Region
      (held every 5 years - last held June 2009 - next due 2014)
    • UK Parliament, New Forest East and New Forest West Constituencies
      (held when called by the Prime Minister, but must be at intervals of not more than 5 years - last held May 2010)
    • Hampshire County Council
      (whole Council is re-elected every four years - last held June 2009, next due May 2013)
    • New Forest District Council
      (whole Council is re-elected every 4 years - last held May 2007, next elections May 2011)
    • All 37 Town and Parish Councils in New Forest District
      (all Councils are re-elected every 4 years - last held May 2007, next elections May 2011)
    • By-elections for any of the above
      (as vacancies arise)
    • Referendums
      (if and when required)
